Ebook soundtrack startup Booktrack raises another $5 million in funding

BooktrackAre soundtracks for ebooks the future of digital reading?

New Zealand tech startup Booktrack believes there’s a consumer and publisher demand for ebooks with synchronized music and ambient sounds – and apparently investors think so, too.

According to TechCrunch, COENT Venture Partners and Sparkbox Ventures are leading Booktrack’s latest $5-million round of funding, which brings the company’s total to $10 million. Previous investors include Paypal co-founder Peter Thiel and filmmaker Peter Jackson.

Earlier this year, Booktrack, which claims more than two million users worldwide, opened a Toronto office led by former Kobo executives Cameron Drew and Liz Ridout.
