IBBY announces 2015 Outstanding Books for Young People with Disabilities

IBBY Collection of Books for Young People with Disabilities

The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) has announced the 50 titles comprising its biennial list of Outstanding Books for Young People with Disabilities. The titles selected for 2015 will be featured in a catalogue launching at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Italy on March 30.

The newest crop of books were chosen from 159 submissions from 27 countries, including Japan, Australia, and Poland, and will become part of the 4,000-title collection currently housed in Toronto at the North York Central Library branch.

A few Canadian books made the list, including Julie Morstad’s How To (Simply Read Books); The Unlikely Hero of Room 13B by Teresa Toten (Doubleday Canada); Emily Included by Kathleen McDonnell (Second Story Press); and Judy McFarlane’s Writing with Grace: A Journey Beyond Down Syndrome (Douglas & MacIntyre).
