Awards: Alix Christie and Nicholas Ruddock among finalists for Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award

Canadians Alix Christie and Nicholas Ruddock, along with four other international writers, including Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction longlister Petina Gappah, have been shortlisted for the £30,000 Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award.

U.K.-based Christie was nominated for her story “The Dacha,” and Kitchener, Ontario–based Ruddock was nominated for “Phosphorescence.” To be nominated, authors must be published in the U.K.

Each shortlisted story will be read by a well-known actor to sold-out audiences over two nights at Foyles’s bookstore auditorium April 20 and 21. Shortlisted  authors receive a £1,000 prize. The winner will be announced at a gala dinner on April 22.
