Seven Canadian titles nominated for Lambda Literary Awards

The Lambda Literary Foundation has announced the finalists for the 24th annual Lambda Literary Awards, celebrating “achievement in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender writing for books published in 2011.”

This year, 119 titles are nominated in 24 categories, selected from over 600 submissions and 250 publishers.

*Among the “Lammie” finalists are seven Canadian titles:

Lesbian General Fiction
Kristyn Dunnion, The Dirt Chronicles (Arsenal Pulp Press)
Farzana Doctor, Six Metres of Pavement (Dundurn Press)

Lesbian Memoir/Biography
Karleen Pendleton Jiménez, How to Get a Girl Pregnant (Tightrope Books)
Jane Rule, Taking My Life (Talonbooks)

Gay Mystery
Garry Ryan, Malabarista (NeWest Press)

LGBT Anthology
Ivan E. Coyote and Zena Sharman, eds., Persistence: All Ways Butch and Femme (Arsenal Pulp)

Bisexual Fiction
J.M. Frey, Triptych (Dragon Moon Press)

Winners will be announced June 4 at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York.


*Update, March 20: The original post stated that six Canadian titles were nominated, however, the list was missing Toronto’s J.M. Frey, nominated for Triptych.
