TYPE Books closes Danforth location

Yet another Toronto indie bookseller has closed, BlogTO reports:

On the same day the city’s beloved Pages Books and Magazines closed, an indie in the east end made its last sale. Yesterday, fans of TYPE Books on the Danforth were greeted with papered windows and a sign on the front door announcing its 1+ year run in the neighbourhood had ended.

There are two remaining TYPE bookstores in the city, in the upscale Forrest Hill Village neighbourhood and on Queen Street West. TYPE’s Danforth location opened its doors in May 2008, just down the street from rival Toronto mini-chain Book City. A used bookstore, Re:Reading, opened up nearby in April of this year.

That’s a real shame. I did a reading at TYPE, and found the staff and owner to be really intelligent, thoughtful people who cared about the business and their product.
