Robert J. Sawyer launches Wake, signs a leg

Last week, Robert J. Sawyer – a.k.a. the Canadian author most likely to have his brain kept alive in a jar for centuries to come (Christian Bök being a close second) – launched his newest novel, Wake (Viking Canada), at Dominion on Toronto’s Queen Street East. The event was hosted by BakkaPhoenix Books. (Photos courtesy of Carolyn Clink)

Space television’s Mark Askwith (fresh from having interviewed Sawyer onstage), Lesley Livingston, author of Wondrous Strange (HarperCollins Canada), and Sawyer.

Sawyer fan Troy Perault displays the tattoo he had made of Sawyer’s signature from a previous event. See, now here’s the difference between sci-fi writers and rock stars – sci-fi writers sign their fans’ legs.

Thanks for posting the pictures, guys! One small note: the fine fellow who has my signature tattooed on his leg is TROY Perault, not Tory Perault (getting a signature tattoo is NOT a conservative act!). :)

Also, I gotta say I’ve been to two book launches now at Dominion on Queen (Lesley Livingston’s for WONDROUS STRANGE and my own for WAKE); it’s a terrific venue for a launch, and the management bent over backwards to cooperate. Highly recommended!

    Fixed. Thanks, Robert.

That is beyond cool! I got him to sign my leg by the original tatto I got inspired by one of Mr. Sawyer’s books, it’s a sports jersy with the team “GLIKSIN”. Thanks all, I didn’t even know about this untill Mr. Sawyer sent me the link! :)
