Event photos: The 2008 Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers

Friends, family, and a handful of industry types gathered in Toronto on Wednesday to hand out the 2008 RBC Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers, awarded to unpublished authors under the age of 35. For the second year running, the ceremony was held in a swish reception lounge – complete with live accompaniment from a tuxedoed pianist – on the 40th floor of the RBC building on Bay Street.

Winning poet Emily McGiffin accepts the prize – and a cheque worth $5,000 – from RBC’s Nigel Napier-Andrews. Emcee Adam Sol, co-chair of The Writers’ Trust of Canada’s author’s committee, is in the top left of the frame.
