PEN World Voices lineup announced in New York
The lineup has just been announced for this year’s PEN World Voices Festival, being held in New York from April 27 to May 3. This year’s theme is “Evolution/Revolution,” and participants will include high-profile authors (Salman Rushdie, Neil Gaiman, Edwidge Danticat) as well as people who made their names outside the republic of letters (Lou Reed, Parker Posey). Of particular interest this year is a “translation slam,” wherein PEN translators will test their mettle translating the work of, among others, Quebec author Nicole Brossard. Other Canadians attending the fest include Michael Ondaatje, Joseph Boyden, Dany Laferrière, and comics artist Kate Beaton.
