Bookmarks: Batman RIP, the cost of discounting books, and more

Blink–Those Gladwell covers are compelling designs. Real death stars for designers who stray too close or are pushed there by smitten publishers.

Batman RIP. That’s funny — the publisher actually thinks it controls Batman’s destiny.

I’ve got to come back at this cover design thing of course. Why not ask why all those birds and fish are showing up on Random/Doubleday covers. Covers for Ronald Wright, Anthony de Sa, Miriam Toews, Nicolas Dickner, Nino Ricci. Please ask them to stop cause now I keep wanting to use wildlife on my designs and in fact have. I thought it was an innocent choice to use a bird on a new novel due from Cormorant Books this spring. Now I realize I’ve been stung by the Random bug.
