On Thursday, Sept. 18, Austin Clarke launched his new novel, More (like Harvey’s, a Giller longlister), at the University of Toronto’s Massey College. Here, Clarke addresses the crowd while his editor and publisher, Patrick Crean of Thomas Allen, listens on.

The room was packed for Clarke’s launch. Some faces in the crowd: Marni Jackson, Barbara Gowdy, and Antanas Sileika.

This Is Not A Reading Series held its first early-morning, kid-themed TINARS For Tots event at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto on Saturday, Sept. 20. The event was presented by Pages Books & Magazines in association with Kids Can Press and featured authors Matt Hammill (Sir Reginald’s Logbook) and Irene M. Luxbacher (Starting Art), slide shows, and hands-on art projects. (Plus snacks, a few tears, and the odd meltdown – just like a regular book event!) Author Claudia Dey hosted.
