PRINT MARKETING THAT WORKS!
“With the decline in newspaper readership, and the high cost of radio and television advertising, Books for Everybody has become the focal point of our marketing plan. In the past two years, we have used the post office to deliver over 2000 copies to homes in areas of the city that don’t traditionally shop in independent stores, resulting in an increase in business from those neighbourhoods; we had new customers telling us how excited they were to receive a catalogue with so much information about new books.
“ The Books for Everybody catalogue is a great marketing tool for both publishers and retailers. It is one of the only forms of advertising that allows for direct feedback from customers on how they heard about both the books they are ordering and the store itself.
“ BFE also has longevity: people still pick up the catalogue from our front desk two months after Christmas.”
– Tammy Grieve, Greenley’s Bookstore, Belleville

“We are getting calls today from happy customers that just got their catalog in the mail.”
(email sent October 18, 2010, Bronwyn, Words Worth Books)
“It happens every year: we know exactly when people get the catalog in the mail because that day we get tons of customers coming in with BFE marked up with recipient’s names on the different books. We also get multiple calls from customers inquiring if we have stock of the books for everyone on their list. It is a great way to sell books during the holidays and is a valuable tool for us, and our customers dearly appreciate it! These calls and customer visits don’t stop until long after the coupon has expired.”
– Bronwyn Addico, Words Worth Books, Waterloo
