Margaret Atwood 2015’s dystopian novel, The Heart Goes Last, is the winner of this year’s Red Tentacle Award at the U.K. Kitschies. Atwood accepted the £1,000 prize (while wearing a tentacle fascinator) at a ceremony in London on March 7.
The Kitschies honour “the world’s most progressive, intelligent, and entertaining” works of speculative fiction and fantasy in five categories: novel, debut, cover art, natively digital fiction, and a “special” category, which this year was achievement in “encouraging and elevating conversation around genre literature.”
