Digital Book Awards recognize four Canadian titles

Four Canadian titles were recognized at last night’s Digital Book Awards gala in New York City. Judged by a panel of 18 publishing design and production experts, the awards intend to celebrate excellence and innovation in digital literary content.

Kids Can Press’s Governor General’s Literary Award  winning picture book Virginia Wolf, written by Kyo Maclear and illustrated by Isabelle Arsenault’s was named Best Fixed Format/Enhanced Ebook for Children. The ebook was produced by Kids Can’s publishing team and Laura Brady of Toronto’s Brady Type.

Toronto-based Darned Sock Productions’ interactive fantasy novel Loose Strands, written by company president Markian Moyes, was named the Best Book App for Children.

Blue Rider Press’s Women in Clothes, edited by Sheila Heti, Heidi Julavits, and Leanne Shapton, was named best Flowable Ebook: Adult Non-fiction.

Second Story Press’s Severn Suzuki and the Day She Silenced the World, written by Janey Wilson and also produced by Laura Brady, was a finalist in the Flowable Ebook: Children category.

All winners receive a trophy and free admission to this year’s three-day Digital Book World Conference and awards gala.
