Knopf Canada, indie publishers split Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize shortlist

The Writers’ Trust of Canada revealed the finalists for the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize this morning at Toronto’s Ben McNally Books.

The jury, comprising writers Neil Bissoondath, Helen Humphreys, and George Murray, narrowed down the five finalists from 127 submissions. At the event, Humphreys told Q&Q that the diversity of the submissions’ “themes, writers, and stories” reflected the “healthy state of Canadian fiction.” She praised the other jury members, stating that the process was very “cohesive.”

The winner will receive $25,000 with each finalist receiving $2,500.

The five finalists are:
