Nelson Education buys McGraw-Hill Ryerson

Toronto-based educational publisher Nelson Education Ltd. is taking over the K–12 business holdings of competitor McGraw-Hill Ryerson in what it is calling a “strategic acquisition.” Nelson will handle all sales, production, development, distribution, and marketing of McGraw-Hill Ryerson’s Canadian portfolio for the above grades in the subjects of English, math, science, fine arts, music, social sciences, and technology. This includes publishing and distributing all educational materials in print and digital. The acquisition will take place over the next two months.

“The purchase represents a further investment in Nelson’s comprehensive offering aimed at meeting the individual needs of educators and students across the country,” said a Nelson release. “The two organizations will work to transition the business and determine operational efficiencies that enable Nelson to provide a seamless delivery of enhanced educational resources to Canadian classrooms.”
