Owlkids, publisher of children’s books and Chirp, chickaDEE, and OWL magazines, is seeking a digital marketing assistant to work with us in executing and advancing our digital marketing strategy. This full-time position is ideal for a tech-savvy person with a passion for social media and children’s publishing. The individual will work out of our Toronto office.

Reporting to our marketing manager, the assistant will be responsible for a wide variety of duties with a focus on social media and digital content development, and a goal of tangibly improving reach, engagement, and brand awareness.

Duties will include:

  • Daily monitoring of social media platforms including planning, writing, and scheduling content
  • Video shooting and editing, photography and graphic design
  • Research and analysis to support and inform social media and digital marketing efforts
  • Coordinating online outreach, promotion, publicity, and advertising
  • Digital marketing including email marketing, bibliographic data work, and website content
  • Assistance with Owlkids events as required
  • Other duties as required

The successful candidate must have:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills including proficiency with language and grammar, as well as writing ability
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma preferably in publishing, marketing, communications, or media production
  • An excellent working knowledge of, and demonstrated engagement on, social media platforms, ideally in a business setting
  • The ability to shoot and edit good quality videos and photographs
  • Strong Mac computer skills including working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as experience with InDesign and Adobe Photoshop
  • Experience with analytics (Google, Facebook, and Twitter) and very basic HTML coding knowledge is preferred
  • Knowledge of French would be an asset

A demonstrated interest in children’s media or previous publishing experience would be considered a significant asset.
