Job description: BIBLIOGRAPHIC DATA SPECIALIST/PROGRAMMER

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibility for Bibliographic data compilation, manipulation and transmission to Major accounts. Also responsible for JD Edwards ERP system maintenance, ad hoc reports and queries.

* Be the central point of contact for data standards and data sources
* Liaise with internal groups providing data to ensure consistency, completeness and accuracy
* Be our representative for all Bibliographic-related issues
* Manage ONIX database, generate weekly & monthly ONIX files for customers.
* Champion HarperCollins Issues with other HarperCollins Divisions

Other responsibilities include:

* Programming: Prepare and maintain JDE business processes work flows and documentation, maintenance and adhoc reporting. MS Access, XML & Excel VBA programming, SQL Server queries.
* Undertake routine JDE and interface maintenance including processing option updates and data selection changes.
* Business Analysis: research and analysis leading to the definition of business requirements, system specifications and processes in order to assist in the resolution of complex business problems.
* Document technical and/or non-technical processes, as requested/required.
* Perform planned and unscheduled maintenance/upgrades/migrations, as required.

Qualifications:

* Post-Secondary Education specializing in computer science.
* Minimum of 3 years related experience.
* Experience with bibliographic data and a deep understanding of ONIX and XML.
* Familiarity with a variety of Microsoft Office software packages
* A good grasp of Microsoft Excel and/or Access.
* Strong problem-solving skills.
* Flexible and adaptable, well-organized and attentive to detail.
* A strong interest in the intersection of books and technology.
* Good organizational and prioritization skills, excellent oral and written communication and inter-personal skills required to support internal and external staff, good customer service skills and the ability to deal and work with all levels of management.
* JD Edwards E1 experience is an asset
* Knowledge of SQL a definite asset.
