Ebook Coordinator
University of Ottawa Press
The University of Ottawa Press is seeking a self-motivated individual who is enthusiastic about the evolving ebook market to oversee the ongoing digitization of UOP books and to develop and maintain ebook sales and marketing channels.
Main responsibilities will include:
• orders and manages ebook conversion services from third party suppliers
• assesses quality of converted ebook files as delivered by third party suppliers and follows up with suppliers as needed
• edits ePUB or XML ebook files as needed
• oversees UOP’s digital asset management system
• manages digitization budget
• registers ISBNs associated with ebooks with Library and Archives Canada
• prepares bibliographic data for ebooks
• maintains existing accounts and establishes new accounts with vendors and discovery sites
• oversees file transmission to all accounts
• for discovery websites, ensures that display preferences for all titles are set and respected
• ensures sales reports and payments from vendors are delivered in a timely fashion
• creates ebook sales reports for internal use
• assesses manuscripts to determine if they have ebook market potential
• advises the Director of technological and market developments related to ebooks
Essential Qualifications include:
• University degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferably in publishing, communications, marketing, journalism or a related area
• Knowledge of ebook technologies and delivery systems
• Familiarity with ePUB and XML
• Self-motivated, resourceful team player with the ability to build and manage
relationships internally and externally
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent abilities in organization, managing priorities, meeting deadlines and following up on deliverables
• Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
• Proactive, creative and resourceful
• Bilingualism – French and English (oral and written) – is an asset
