Deals: Foreign rights deals for Tanis Rideout, CS Richardson, Shree Ghatage; and more
The Cooke Agency International has a number of deals to report this week:
Suzanne Brandreth has negotiated the sale of Polish rights to Tanis Rideout’s Above All Things to Wydawnictwo Bukowy on behalf of McClelland & Stewart; Dutch rights to CS Richardson’s The Emperor of Paris to Nieuw Amsterdam; and Italian rights to Shree Ghatage’s Thirst to Neri Pozza.
Ron Eckel at TCAI has arranged the sale of Spanish rights to Jeff and Ann VanderMeer’s anthologies Steampunk and Steampunk II: Steampunk Reloaded in a two-book deal to Edge Entertainment.
Eckel has also sold world English-language audio rights to Karen Lord’s The Best of All Possible Worlds to Audible.
Television rights to Shawn Klomparens’ novel Jessica Z. have been optioned by producers Jane Motz Hayes (Berkeley Films) and Brandi-Ann Milbradt (Philms Pictures). Novelist Catherine McKenzie will adapt the books for screen. Erin Conroy of William Morris Endeavor arranged the deal on behalf of Erin Malone.
Carolyn Swayze of the Carolyn Swayze Literary Agency has a number of deals to report:
Film rights to Genni Gunn’s novel Tracing Iris have been sold to Colossal Entertainment/Film Works. The film, starring Inga Cadranel, Kari Matchett, and Kenneth Welsh, will be released in 2013 as The Riverbank.
Film rights to Aislinn Hunter’s 2002 novel, Stay, have been sold to Amerique Films and Submission Films. The international co-production stars Aiden Quinn, Taylor Schilling, and Brian Gleeson.
Andrew Gray’s short story, “Letters to the Future” from the 2001 collection Small Accidents, has been optioned for film by Poisson Rouge Pictures/Breakaway Films.
