Doubleday signs Russell Peters memoir, and more
Doubleday Canada executive publisher Maya Mavjee has acquired rights to the first book by comedian Russell Peters for Doubleday Canada. It is described as a revealing first-person memoir covering his formative boyhood in Brampton, Ontario, to his rise to fame. The to-be titled book will be published in fall 2010.
Knopf Canada publisher Diane Martin has acquired the debut novel Every Time We Say Goodbye by Jamie Zeppa, about three generations of women and their experience of motherhood. The deal was arranged by Anne McDermid & Associates.
Patrick Crean, publisher of Thomas Allen Publishers, has acquired the new novel by Antanas Sileika. Underground reflects the history of Sileika's own family in Lithuania from the late 1930s to the early ’50s. The deal was arranged by Anne McDermid & Associates.
