Two Canadian children’s books have been honoured by the American Indian Library Association as recipients of its 2016 American Indian Youth Literature Awards.

Richard Van Camp and Julie Flett’s Little You, a 2013 board book from Orca Book Publishers, won in the picture-book category.

Dreaming in Indian: Contemporary Native Voices, edited by Lisa Charleyboy and Mary Beth Leatherdale and released by Annick Press in 2014, won in the middle school category. The anthology features essays, poems, art, and more from an array of indigenous contributors that address living as a first nation person in Canada.

The authors and editors will receive their awards at a special AILA reception at the American Library Association’s annual conference in Orlando, Florida, in June.
