YA author Ken Setterington receives American Library Association honours

The American Library Association has announced its 2014 youth media award winners.

Ken Setterington’s non-fiction Branded by the Pink Triangle (Second Story Press) was one of three titles to receive honours for the Stonewall Children’s and Young Adult Literature Award. Setterington, who was the Toronto Public Library’s first children and youth advocate for library services, has previously sat on the ALA’s award committees.

Last year, Canadian-born illustrator Jon Klassen won the ALA’s Randolph Caldecott Medal for his picture book This Is Not My Hat (Candlewick Press/Random House), the top honour for children’s book illustration in the U.S.
