Tech review sites are already praising Kobo’s newest e-reader‚ the Aura ONE‚ which it revealed at Toronto’s Koerner Hall on Aug. 17. Wired suggested the new model could give “Kindle owners some serious second thoughts,” while TechCrunch called the Aura ONE  “the Cadillac of e-readers” and Business Insider lauded it as “the best e-reader of all time.”

The Aura ONE’s most prominent feature is its size: it sports a 19.8 cm high-resolution screen, compared to the average e-reader, such as Kindle, which comes with a 15.24 cm display. Other highlights include full waterproofing up to two metres for one hour; the option to adjust both brightness and tone of backlight for night reading; and full integration with the popular library ebook service Overdrive.

The e-reader, which retails for $249, will be made available to the public in Canada‚ the U.S.‚ the U.K.‚ France‚ Spain, the Netherlands, Japan, Germany, and Turkey on Sept. 6. Pre-ordering starts Aug. 30.
