Over at The Casual Optimist, Dan Wagstaff has created a couple of visually stunning posts featuring book covers of the year. Noting the “under-representation of YA book designers in all these end of the year cover lists,” Wagstaff showcases 50 YA covers, including several by Canadian-born Lucy Ruth Cummins at Simon & Schuster, and Jillian Tamaki’s graphic novel This One Summer (co-created with her cousin, writer Mariko Tamaki), which won the Governor General’s Literary Award for children’s illustration.

There are plenty of striking images in the 50 Covers for 2014 post as well, which includes David A. Gee’s cover treatment of Joseph Heath’s Enlightenment 2.0.
