The Times’ Motoko Rich moves on from publishing beat

Publishers Weekly is reporting that The New York Times‘ intrepid publishing reporter Motoko Rich is leaving the books beat behind to join the newspaper’s Business Day section. Rich, who worked previously for The Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times, has covered publishing news for the paper since 2006.

The Times has yet to name a replacement, but possible candidates include arts reporter Dave Itzkoff, who has shared Rich’s byline on a number of recent literary-themed stories, or even “ who knows? “ technology reporter Brad Stone, who has done a fine job covering recent developments in e-books.
