Pornhounds can recommend books, too

Everyone knows who to consult when it comes to good literature: The New York Review of Books, The Times Literary Supplement, Q&Q

But where does one find sexy book recommendations? Why, Playboy, of course!

The venerable softcore porno pub shares their picks for the “25 sexiest novels ever written” on their website and tempt the surfer to read on with the edict that if “reading is thinking with someone else’s brain, then erotica is feeling with someone else’s body parts.”

The feature includes a handy excerpt/history/synopsis combo to acquaint yourself with these rapacious reads, which include no-brainers like Lady Chatterly’s Lover, Tropic of Cancer, Lolita, and Story of O.

But don’t accuse those smut-peddlers of thinking inside the box — dark horses like Interview with the Vampire, The Carpetbaggers, and even Portnoy’s Complaint, the touching story of a boy and his love affair with a piece of veal, are represented.

(Thanks to blog.largeheartedboy.com for the heads-up. ‘Cause it’s not like we look at the Playboy site or anything. Really.)
