“Mystery fans thought they’d never read about Inspector Rebus again,” says Mike Hamm, manager of Bookmark Books in Halifax, as Rankin had retired the bad-tempered, alcoholic detective back in 2006.
But the Scottish crime writer didn’t let the character lie for too long. Standing in Another Man’s Grave is a current mystery favourite at Bookmark. “I would expect it to continue to be the number one choice for a mystery buyer this holiday season,” says Hamm.
