Munro, Auster among IFOA’s 2012 lineup

The International Festival of Authors, which takes place at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre from October 18−28, has announced its 2012 preliminary lineup.

International headliners include Paul Auster, Michael Chabon, Chris Cleave, Junot Díaz, Richard Ford, and Howard Jacobson. Alice Munro will make a rare appearance, promoting her upcoming story collection Dear Life (McClelland & Stewart).

This year’s confirmed authors include Susan Swan, Jian Ghomeshi, Annabel Lyon, Rohinton Mistry, and Anakana Schofield. Graphic novelist Chester Brown, and non-fiction writers Nora Young and Andrew Westoll will be appearing with crime fiction writers Lee Child and Gail Bowen, and science fiction writers Cory Doctorow and Stuart Clark. Attending poets include Don McKay. A Young IFOA event will help celebrate Orca Books’ Seven: The Series, featuring Norah McClintock, Shane Peacock, Richard Scrimger, Ted Staunton, Eric Walters, and John Wilson.

Tickets go on sale in September, though tickets for special events will be available as of June 12. More information on authors, programming, and readings can be found here.
