Canada Law Book CEO Stuart Morrison dies

One of Canada’s biggest names in legal publishing, Stuart Morrison, died Aug. 6.

Morrison was president and CEO of the Cartwright Group, which owned Canada Law Book and CLB Media. In August 2010, Canadian Law Book and Cartwright’s legal publications were acquired by Thomson Reuters, while the rest of the CLB Media properties were split among various buyers. After the purchase, Morrison stayed on as Cartwright Group president and to assist with the CLB transition to Thomson Reuters.

In the online legal magazine Slaw, Morrison, who worked at CLB for almost 30 years, is described as a “real character among Canadian legal publishers, a man of strong views and language, who lived his life with gusto “ he would tackle any challenge.”
