International Festival of Authors lineup announced
Authors at Harbourfront Centre has announced the preliminary fall lineup for the 31st annual International Festival of Authors to take place Oct. 20 – 30, 2010. The list includes 71 international and Canadian authors.
Some authors confirmed are: Canadians David Bergen, Ian Brown, Dionne Brand, Charlotte Gray, Dany Laferrière, and Jane Urquhart; international writers Michael Cunningham, Paul Harding, Jonathan Franzen, Andrea Levy, Jeff Lindsay, David Mitchell, Paolo Giordano, Claudio Magris, Anchee Min, and Eshkol Nevo; crime-fiction authors Thomas Perry, Peter Robinson, and Lisa Scottoline; two of The New Yorker’s “Top 20 Under 40,” Joshua Ferris and Wells Tower; debut novelists Eleanor Catton and Chevy Stevens; poets M.T. Kelly and Priscila Uppal; graphic novelists Charles Burns and Dylan Horrocks; and YA authors Sylvie Daigneault, Wallace Edwards, and Rebecca James.
Each year the IFOA hosts readings, panel discussions, onstage interviews, book signings, and other literary-themed events. Tickets to three special events – the Governor General’s Literary Award shortlist readings, the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize shortlist readings, and the Scotiabank Giller Prize shortlist readings – go on sale Thursday, June 17, and can be purchased through www.readings.org.
