Maya Mavjee leaves Doubleday Canada for Crown Publishing in New York

Brad Martin, president and CEO of Random House of Canada, announced today that Maya Mavjee is leaving her position as executive publisher of Doubleday Canada and executive vice-president of Random House of Canada to assume the position of president and publisher of Crown Publishing Group in New York. Mavjee will be replacing current president and publisher of Crown, Jenny Frost, who is stepping down effective immediately.

Random House U.S. CEO Markus Dohle announced today they will be splitting the current Crown Publishing Group into separately structured and distinct groups: trade-publishing imprints on one side, and the other with the Random House Audio Group and the Random House Information Group.

Mavjee will be replaced by Kristin Cochrane, former deputy publisher of Doubleday Canada, who has been with Doubleday for four years.

The change will take effect on January 1, 2010.

Look for further Omni coverage later today.
