Event photos: Watching the Watchmen, and the Giller nominees

It was a fanboy’s dream last Sunday as Watchmen penciller Dave Gibbons hit The World’s Biggest Bookstore in Toronto, drawing a big crowd while promoting a new Chip Kidd-designed companion book, Watching the Watchmen. (Photos courtesy of Random House of Canada.)

DocManhattan

An obliging Gibbons drew Dr. Manhattan symbols on Random House production manager David Ward (left) and Space TV producer Mark Askwith. No word on whether they’ve washed their foreheads since.

Rorschach

Gibbons signs for a fan dressed as Rorschach. Or is it the real Rorschach….?

On Monday, Giller nominees Rawi Hage and Joseph Boyden did a joint event at the Burlington (Ontario) Art Centre for A Different Drummer Books and Bryan Prince, Bookseller. (Photos courtesy of A Different Drummer Books.)

Hage2

Big smiles (almost) all around: author Madeleine Thien, Miranda Hill, and Hage.
