Talking Books gets axed

It’s only been a few weeks since Rogers TV announced the impending cancellation of Carolyn Weaver’s long-running book show Fine Print, but already another book promotion venue has bit the dust. This time it’s Ian Brown’s CBC Radio One show Talking Books. According to a short piece in yesterday’s Globe & Mail:

The producers and host were told the news on Tuesday after taping the last shows of the season. The long-running series, on the air for a decade, will continue in repeats on Saturday afternoons through the summer.

According to a CBC spokesman, the reason for the cancellation is that a new literary program is in the works.
