The Peanuts Sudoku combo
Eight years after Charles M. Schulz’s death, Peanuts collections are still a viable business – but apparently they could use some help in generating consumer interest. As Editor & Publisher reports, U.S. publisher Andrews McMeel is planning some new titles that combine comic strips with, er, Sudoku puzzles. “One of The Puzzle Society books features 50 ‘Dilbert’ strips and 200 ‘Sudoku’ puzzles, while the other includes 50 ‘Peanuts’ strips and 200 puzzles,” reads the item.
While Quillblog’s first impulse is to let loose with a “good grief,” the publisher may be on to something here. Many of our more homey novels already include the odd recipe or two, so why not expand the model? For those on the fence about whether to pick up Michael Ondaatje’s Divisadero, a few cryptic crosswords in the back of the book could tip the scales.
