Bon Jovi’s a little runaway

GalleyCat has revealed why Jon Bon Jovi pulled out of a BookExpo America concert with Amy Grant: he’s riding his steel horse right out of the publishing world.

Bon Jovi and his bandmates were offered $1 million by Flying Dolphin Press (the Random House/Doubleday imprint that is publishing the Borat books) to tell their story, and the book was slated for a fall release. Then it was postponed indefinitely, causing the cancellation of the concert, and now Bon Jovi has closed the, uh, book on the issue forever.

“One of those big publishers gave us a million dollars recently to write a book about our experiences but we just gave the money right back because it’s no one’s business,” Bon Jovi said. “They wanted the clichéd story about being a rock star and I’m not going to tell them. It doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, it just means: Isn’t there anything more important to talk about?”

Darn! Now the world will never know his hair-care secrets! And what is this trend of celebrities proclaiming there are more important things to talk about than their silly lives? Everyone already knew that, but feared the stars would wither and die without the media’s love. And no one wants that on their conscience.
