Gather your Oompa-Loompas and celebrate
Quillblog would like to thank The Guardian, whose unsettlingly difficult Roald Dahl quiz points out that today, September 13, 2006, is the first ever Roald Dahl Day.
The date for this new day of observance was chosen because it would have been the late author’s ninetieth birthday. It is being celebrated in classrooms across the UK, as well as at the Roald Dahl Museum in Buckinghamshire.
And for all the skeptics out there, the day does seem to be sanctioned by organizations other than Random House (Dahl’s publisher), including a charity or two.
