Are you ready for a $4,000 book about football?

What would be a bigger upset than the Pittsburgh Steelers’ dramatic playoff win over Peyton Manning’s Indianapolis Colts last weekend? Kraken Sports selling all 20,000 copies of its new book about the Super Bowl: XL: Forty Years of the Super Bowl. Richard Sandomir of The New York Times provides the John Madden-esque specs: “When completed, it will be nearly two feet long on all sides and close to six inches thick. It will weigh 85 pounds and contain nearly 2,000 images (out of two million examined) and about 500,000 words. It will cost $4,000 (for the first 19,600 copies) or $25,000 (for the 400 M.V.P. copies that will be autographed by all of the living Super Bowl most valuable players).” Sandomir reports that the more expensive editions will come with video iPods embedded in the box and pre-loaded with Super Bowl highlights. The British company is also selling football-field shaped tables and giant kicking tees as “resting places” for the book.
