Preserve the Canada Council! Ensure the role of the CBC!

On Friday morning, the Conservative Party officially released its platform. Contrary to early reports, copies of the policy document were not delivered to the news conference in satchels strapped to the backs of flying monkeys, but the platform did make some mention of arts and culture.

The party pledges to “create a Francophone Secretariat within the Department of Canadian Heritage,” “ensure that the CBC and Radio-Canada continue to perform their vital role as national public service broadcasters,” “preserve the role of the National Film Board, the Canada Council, and other federal arts and culture agencies,” and “give Canadians increased access to international and foreign-language television and radio programming.”

That’s it.
