The latest literary movement

The British fondness for excremental humour gets its due in a piece by Louise Jury in The Independent. According to Jury, there’s a new mini-trend sweeping — or perhaps clogging — British publishing lists. “Shit sells,” she writes. “Put something scatological in the title of your book and the bestseller lists beckon.” For example, Michael O’Mara Books has recently issued parodies of Schott’s Miscellany and Eats, Shoots and Leaves — titled, respectively, Shite’s Miscellany and Eats, Shites and Leaves.
