Lulu on European tour

Canadian entrepreneur Bob Young was in the UK this week looking for printing companies for his newest venture – a Lulu.com for Europeans. The self-publishing site, based in Hamilton, Ontario, allows authors and artists to upload their work, which is then downloaded via PDF, as a DVD, or printed on-demand, by buyers. Authors then take 80% of the book profits. Young, whose Under the Radar did not fare well in the mainstream market, has some cutting thoughts on traditional publishing: “With our system there is no reason why authors should live in a regime that leaves them powerless in the face of publishers.”
