Edward Bunker dies at 71
Edward Bunker first learned to write during his 18 years of incarceration for robbery, check forgery, and other crimes. While still in prison in 1973, he released No Beast So Fierce, a novel about a convict who attempts to re-enter society in L.A., which enjoyed sustained popularity. Bunker also published novels The Animal Factory, Little Boy Blue, and Dog Eat Dog, and a memoir entitled Education of a Felon. Born in Hollywood, he also had a full acting career, with roles in Reservoir Dogs, and more recently, the remake of The Longest Yard.
