Granville Book Company powers down

A post-mortem on the close of the Granville Book Company is in The Georgia Straight this week. The bookstore, which specialized in computer books, shut its doors due to a mix of increased rent and a property tax assessment notice. Bob Cole, one of the store’s five owner-employees, told the Straight he is planning “a more ambitious bookstore project, which will include a professional stage and a theme: a celebration of independent book-selling in B.C. and a motif of social justice.”
