Since its inception in 1993, the Chicken Soup for the Soul series has generated $1.3-billion in revenues in North America — now, a private company called Modern Media is trying to translate the series’s golden reputation in book publishing into success in the magazine world. Mignonne Wright, the former publisher of the now-defunct American Magazine, “a short-lived bimonthly that celebrated life in the United States.”
