Making Hay

The quirks and quotes of The Guardian Hay Festival are nicely covered in the newspaper’s newsblog. Updating several times each day of the festival, which runs May 27 through June 5 in Wales, Guardian staff pass on the fun and the bizarre in equal measure, from bustling Jacqueline Wilson signings to Alexander McCall Smith’s remarks on the disease of “serial novelism”: “There is no cure — you write serial novels and then you die.”
