How to get ahead in publishing
The Bookangst 101 site has a Q&A with three anonymous New York book editors on how non-frontlist authors can increase their in-house profile and their presence in the media and bookstores. Much of the editors’ advice is fairly self-evident — know what you can and can’t demand from your publisher, use whatever contacts you’ve made in the media and writing community — but they also have some good pointers on exploiting the niche/genre potential of individual titles and the importance of using online promotion opportunities.
