And the best novel of 2004 is…

Three weeks, 16 books, and 15 judges later, the Morning News’ Tournament of Books — the U.S. website’s month-long playoff-style competition between 2004 novels — has picked a winner. And it’s none other than David Mitchell’s Cloud Atlas (published here in Canada by Vintage Canada), which defeated Philip Roth’s The Plot Against America (Houghton Mifflin/Thomas Allen & Son) in the final round.
