O Susanna

Bloomsbury (and Canadian distributor Raincoast) seem to have had some success with their “Harry Potter for adults” advance marketing hook for Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. How else to explain the waves of media attention that have already begun crashing over this 800-page first novel? The Globe and Mail‘s Elizabeth Renzetti turned in a profile of author Susanna Clarke (headlined “Is this the next J.K. Rowling?”), and now among the early reviews are two long and positive ones – one on Salon and one in the trendy new literary journal n+1.
