Ontario supernatural and crime-fiction author Michael J. McCann is one of five nominees for the 2015 North American Hammet Prize, initiated by the International Association of Crime Writers, for his novel Sorrow Lake: A March and Walker Crime Novel (The Plaid Raccoon Press). The story follows a detective on the case of a murdered man in a small Ontario farming town.
The nominees were selected by a reading committee of association members based on recommendations from industry professionals. The winner – selected by a judging panel comprised of authors Peter Eckersall and Luanne Rice, and BR Books owner Gina Pollock – will be announced during the NoirCon literary conference, October 26–30, in Philadelphia.
