Type Books

Toronto independent bookseller Type Books has been named Magazines Canada’s 2014 Retailer of the Year. The award is presented to a client of the organization’s distribution service that cultivates a connection between consumers and magazines.

The national trade association announced the award on June 2, citing the store’s support for Canadian periodicals, which last year included a window display by staffer Kalpna Patel to celebrate children’s magazine Chickadee’s 35th anniversary, an in-store promotion for Canadian Art, and providing the setting for a Magazines Canada promotional film.

Type has been a mainstay of the city’s Queen Street West since 2006, and is known for its thoughtfully displayed, well-curated selection of books and magazines. It operates a second store in the Forest Hill area.
