Canadians Trish Salah, Michel Marc Bouchard win Lambda Awards

tom at the farmTwo Canadian writers were honoured last night at the 26th annual Lambda Literary Awards in New York City. The awards recognize the best LGBT books of the previous year.

Trish Salah’s poetry collection Wanting in Arabic (TSAR Publications) won in the transgender fiction category.

Michel Marc Bouchard’s play Tom at the Farm (Talonbooks), translated by Linda Gaboriau, received the award for best LGBT drama. Last year, the film adaptation of Bouchard’s play, directed by Quebec wunderkind Xavier Dolan, won the International Federation of Film Critics’ best film prize at the Venice Film Festival.
